I am wearing the dress in a size UK18.  I am 5'9".  As you can see the dress is figure hugging.  The length from shoulder to hemline is 40".

This is a shape flattering 3/4 length sleeve black dress designed for that special occasion by employing the sequin and lace detailing at the front of the dress and continuing the lace detailing at the back neck and shoulder area.

As with all figure hugging dresses the quality of the fit and cut of the dress is very important for all over comfort wear and to help you exude confidence.  There is nothing so unattractive than having to fuss and fix your dress every time you get up from a chair or when you walk.  With this dress the hemline stays in place when walking (no gathering nor puckering) and when you rise to your feet after sitting the dress immediately finds its natural fall.  For a demonstration please have a look at my short video below which will show you how the dress behaves.

Curvety dresses are all fantastic quality.  I have talked about their dresses before and therefore have no hesitation in telling you all about them again.  These dresses are that bit more expensive BUT you get what you pay for.

Sept 19th - A practical and smart Day Wear Collection by

This is a very pretty yet functional dress in a smart teal colour with navy blue trim and polka dot design detail.  The dress has a double breasted button detail and a navy blue waist trim helping to minimise a larger middle area by deflecting attention away from the middle and drawing the eyes above the waistline.  I am seen in this photo wearing the dress in a size UK20.  I am 5'9" tall and find that the knee length is practical for both a day wear or work wear dress.  The composition of the dress is 40% cotton with 60% other fibres.  The dress has a heavier weight so is ideal for the cooler days of autumn.  The dress is machine washable which is all important for the busy working woman.  I gave this dress a cool wash using Woolite (liquid wash) and spun it and then hung it up on a clothes hanger suspended from my clothes airer.  The dress was dry overnight ready for a cool and minimal iron the next day.  This dress is both practical and stylish.  To keep the smarter office day look wear this dress with tights and heels.  I have opted for navy opaque tights in this presentation which also looks good.  You can also tone this look down to a smart casual look by wearing the dress with smarter boots.  In cooler days this dress will also look great worn with the boots and a slouchy style boyfriend cardigan.

I plan, possibly next week, to bring you another Dickins & Jones dress which has very much embraced the folklore look.

Sept 14th - YOURS Black Collar and Lace Yoke Detail loose fit chiffon blouse

A loose fit chiffon blouse with a shirt tail style cut makes this the blouse to wear and glide over any problem middle areas.  I am pictured wearing the blouse in Hot Pink.  The blouse also is available in pastel pink, mint, and white (all blouses featuring the same black collar with black lace yoke detail and the black button placket).

This style of blouse will go well with practically all the various trouser leg cut shapes available at present to include wide legs (as I am wearing in this picture), tapered legs, 7/8 leg length and slim leg cuts.  You can also wear this blouse tucked inside the waistband of a black pencil skirt for a more dressier or formal look.

The blouse is new season stock so is currently available in all the sizes for all the colours from a UK16 - UK32.  The blouses costs €36 or £26 ( N.I.)

This is very much a 50s inspired dress with the flared skirt and net ruffle hem underskirt.  This dress flounces!  It is perfect for all your formal day wear occassions to include Afternoon Tea, Tea Dances and the general round of ladies occasions.  This is the dress to make you feel very feminine.

I am 5'9" tall and I am wearing size UK18.  The dress is available from a UK8 - UK22.  There is a concealed zip at the back of the dress and a very pretty "same fabric" belt to clinch in that waist.

I think that if you really want to enter into the spirit of the 50s then wearing flared skirt dresses such as this prom dress means wearing it with stilletos.  In the picture and the video I am wearing the dress with black stilleto court shoes.  The black is a rather obvious choice given the black border detailing along the outline of the floral pattern but you can also wear this dress effectively with a lighter colour heel shoe.  Here is a picture of me wearing the dress with cream/beige stilleto sandals.

When it gets cooler this dress also looks great worn with a bolero style cardigan or wrap.  Here I am wearing the dress with a simple black bolero cardigan.
